A prominent yet untapped demographic in the Hampton Roads area is the “transplanted” resident. With no major professional sports team in the area, everyone has “THEIR” hometown team. Owned and operated by former Pennsylvania, now Virginia Beach residents, Steel City Bar & Grill is set to provide the down home atmosphere and ethnic food selection found in Pittsburgh, PA, yet welcomes all fans in search of their hometown sports experience.
A military couple and avid Steelers fans, Jeff and Tonya Abbadini realized that Virginia Beach has no “all out theme-based” sports bar and grill. The ultimate sports fan experience will be realized by all who enter on Sundays for NFL games, Saturdays for NCAA football games, and many other times of the year for other sports including NCAA Basketball, NASCAR, and NHL etc. No sport will be left untouched with the multiple flat screen TVs throughout the bar, individual listening stations in the booths to allow for each group’s full sports fan experience, and a constant flow of sports celebrity promotional appearances. From the Pittsburgh skyline mural, to the Point Park shaped bar, to Pittsburgh favorite food and drinks, all will enjoy the STEEL CITY EXPERIENCE.

- We will be “Home Field” for the transplanted resident and sports fan! Our customers will range from singles in their 20s and 30s to couples through their 60s.

- This phenomenon is featured in a 2006 NFL Films Presents special titled “Steelers Nation” and it is our reason for the focus on Steelers fans. Noting the downfall of Pittsburgh area steel mills and coal mines, southwestern PA encountered a population exodus during the 1980’s and 90’s. As people left in search of a new life, they took the heartfelt love for the Pittsburgh Steelers along with them.
- Tailgating events will be planned, starting at noon on Sundays during NFL season. Drink specials inside, and BBQ type food specials outside.
- Thursday, Sunday, and Monday Night NFL games will highlight each team’s fan base.
- Steel City Bar & Grill will start a new local Steelers Fan Club or will more than welcome an already established club.
- Food and drink specials for major sporting events
- One to three Sports Celebrity appearances will be strategically scheduled throughout the year to kick off different seasons. A retired Steelers player will be sought for the grand opening.
- NASCAR, MLB, NCAA football, and NHL will be televised during virtually every event.
- Happy Hour Monday thru Friday 3-6 pm with drink specials a free snack items.
